Il Super Rugby comincia a regalare match spettacolari e combattuti, come quello di Auckland dove i Blues aspettavano i Crusaders: 30 minuti di partita equilibrata poi gli uomini di Kirwan fanno vedere di sapere muovere bene la palla e sfruttano le indecisioni difensive dei Crusaders per vincere meritatamente il match; gran partita di Renè Ranger e di due 21enni Charles Piutau e Steven Luatua.
Nessun problema per i Chiefs che spazzano via nel secondo tempo i Cheetahs grazie anche a 5 mete; non ce la fanno invece gli Hurricanes a prevalere contro i Reds complice la grande difesa di Cooper e compagni. Curioso episodio nel match con protagonista l’arbitro Steve Walsh che spinge via il capitano ‘Canes Conrad Smith.
Nella conference australiana, i Waratahs si riprendono da un primo tempo giocato veramente male che li vedeva sotto 16 a 6 e portano a casa una preziosa vittoria contro i Melbourne Rebels.
Big match in Sud Africa tra Sharks e Stormers; l’incontro delude un po’ le apsettative in virtù dei tanti errori e alla fine i padroni di casa si portano a casa il match grazie ai 4 piazzati di Pat Lambie.
Nell’ultimo match a Pretoria i Bulls sono sotto 22 a 26 a dieci dalla fine contro i Western Province, ma due mete di Cook e Kruger evitano la sconfitta.
