Treviso viene nettamente sconfitta a Parigi; bene Leinster, Saracens e Toulon, Clermont fatica ma si salva. Grande Bath
Niente da fare per la Benetton contro Racing: i Parigini non fanno cose straordinarie nel primo tempo ma sono abili nello sfruttare le debolezze di Treviso soprattutto in difesa – in primis da rolling maul – e segnano già tre mete. Ad inizio ripresa i Francesi sono già in bonus, Treviso non riesce proprio a difendere la rolling maul da touch degli avversari e subisce in continuazione; a metà del tempo arriva una timida soddisfazione con la meta di Campagnaro ma è solo un fuoco di paglia e alla fine il 53 a 7 finale la dice lunga sull’andamento dell’incontro.
Nell’altro incontro della Pool le mete di North e Clark regalano il successo a Northampton sugli Ospreys
Il weekend di European Champions Cup lo ha aperto Leicester che, con Ghiraldini e Rizzo in campo dall’inizio e Barbieri nel secondo tempo, batte gli Scarlets segnando sei mete; nella stessa Pool, la 3, nessun problema per Toulon che segna 60 punti a Ulster.
Nella Pool 1 Clermont soffre contro Sale ma riesce a spuntarla nel finale grazie alla meta di Fritz; successo importante per i Saracens che si dimostrano grande squadra e battono con merito un Munster poco efficace in attacco; nella Pool 2 Leinster asfalta letteralmente Castres segnando 7 mete per 50 punti, grande Wasps – Cittadini in formazione titolare – che espugna lo Stoop battendo nettamente gli Harlequins.
Nella Pool 4 Bath gioca una gran partita e vince a Toulouse: la squadra inglese domina in lungo e in largo anche se i Francesi sono abili a sfruttare gli errori avversari; il discorso comunque lo chiude la meta di Francois Louw nel finale. Chi ne approfitta è Glasgow che vincendo contro Montpellier spera ancora nei quarti di finale.
